Abstract

The above article focuses on nationalistic motifs in „Inseraty (krajowe) (zagraniczne)" – a commercial paper from 1867. In its pages the Ukrainian problem was downplayed, showing a greater reluctance of Jews, much less numerous than Ukrainians. Such a tendency was inconsistent with the general attitude among Poles in Galicia - the Ukrainian, not the Jewish one was considered a bigger problem. An excep-tion to the rule were also the press organs of the first ephemeral Christian-social parties. Jewish issues prevailed, which leads to the conclusion that for the emerging Catholic-social movement it was perhaps the most important issue. Such a case raises the question of how this issue was presented not only in the trade press, what even in the entire economic press of Krakow? Exactly: how did you refer to the Jewish question, and how to refer to the Ruthenian (Ukrainian) question? Who was considered a bigger enemy? Of course, the business press can be examined at this angle in other Galician press centers.
