Abstract

Terrorism is a dynamic phenomenon, undergoing constant changes, being the resultant of the conditions of the contemporary world. The strategy of terrorist organizations is also evolving. The modern world, having the face of a global village, is characterized by extremely fast information transmission. The media reach virtually all, even the farthest corners of the world. Thus, the mass media constitute a convenient tool in the hands of terrorists for propaganda activity, which is one of the pillars of the action strategy. On the other hand, terrorist attacks are among the best-selling information – the media is in some way fascinated by terrorism, which enables them to expand their audience.

Currently, terrorists' methods of operation include a very wide range of activities aimed directly or indirectly at committing an attack. It is nowadays assumed that terrorism has its own strategy and tactics. The strategy of terrorism is based on the selection of a carefully selected, representative and symbolic victim who should be killed or injured. Contemporary terrorism is structurally and functionally better and better adapted to the activities in the new, highly saturated with information technologies environment. The concepts of organiz-ing terrorist attacks, as well as the means used on their occasion, will undergo changes adequate to the civilization development of the modern world. It is difficult to predict what changes the tactics of terrorist activities will change and what will be the scope and type of impact of this phenomenon.
