After World War II the situation of the German minority on the territories of Lubusz Land (Western Poland) depended on national policy and the geopolitics. The relations with the Polish society and the process of overcoming stereotypes evolved and its evolution sped up after the fall of the iron curtain. The article analyzes the studies on German presence on Lubusz Land after 1945. The author focused on the influence of political events and consequences of World War II on distancing relations between Poles and Germans on those territories belonging first to the Polish People’s Republic. It also presents the gradual reintegration of the German minority in the socio-cultural activities which was enabled in the 90’s of the XX century after political changes in Poland and the German reunification.
