NUTRITIONAL RECOMMENDATIONS IN THE EVALUATION AND BEHAVIOR OF ALCOHOL ADDICTS UNDERTAKING PSYCHOTHERAPY – A TEST REPORT
Keywords:

Negative health consequences of alcohol use by addicts and problem drinkers are a serious challenge for primary health care. The psychosomatic complications experienced by addicted patients result not only from the direct effect of alcohol on the body, but also from their lifestyle. The evaluation of changes in the course of alcohol therapy in patients of addiction facilities should therefore not be limited to monitoring their abstinence and analysing changes in the social (family, professional, legal) situation, but should also take into account the multi-faceted health and education processes in the area of health prevention. In this respect, the application by patients of recommendations concerning dietary balancing, meal planning and regularity of consumption or reducing caffeine intake not only improves their quality of life but also helps to maintain abstinence. The article is a communication from research on pro-healthy behaviors of patients of rehab facilities and mental health clinics.
