Abstract

Resocializing educators undertaking work with addicted perpetrators of punishable offenses must have in-depth knowledge and selected skills in the field of addiction therapy. This article presents the relationship between the use of psychoactive substances leading to crime and the functioning of addicts. It also attempts to indicate the necessary competences of professionals employed by social rehabilitation institutions in the field of addiction therapy. The considerations concern knowledge of psychological addiction mechanisms, styles of using of psychoactive substances and diagnostic skills, as well as the ability to design special strategies for rehabilitation and relapse prevention.
