Keywords:
education, philosophy, A. ŚwiętochowskiAbstract
This article presents a reflection on the upbringing of Polish positivism. Considered from the point of view of philosophy of education or philosophical pedagogy, limited to selected themes of the work of A. Świętochowski. He formulates the thesis that one can notice in them the synthetism and practicality typical of the moral philosophy practiced in Poland.
In his reflections on the philosophical foundations of education A. Świętochowski combined evolutionism, naturalism and scientism. Striking liberalism and individualism, he reaffirmed communalism. He assumed on the model of utilitarianism and practicality that upbringing is the development of the natural predispositions of a person directed at his preparation for being in the world. Hence, he distinguished physical, mental, moral and aesthetic education.
