Abstract

Poland should not divert from its eastern neighbor. We can not afford to lose Ukraine. Our commitment in this country is not a matter of ‘ukrainofilstwa’ Polish political elites would like some writers, but the Polish national interest. Poland, Ukraine friendly, stable, democratic, related to Euro-Atlantic institutions, will strengthen the security of our country. A strong, independent Ukraine will prevent the return of Russian hegemony in the Baltic and Black Sea region. It is also an important element of Polish politics in the European Union. Rebuilding of “Little Russia” will serve the restoration of imperial Russia’s position, it will reinforce the divisions in Europe and weaken the security of our country and make Poland for a long time the border country of the Western world. Bearing in mind events of recent months, we should consider further eastern politics and priorities of Polish foreign politics.
