Bilingual Education and the Educational Policy – some theoretical remarks

The article deals with the issue of the relation between education, educational policy and the processes of the development of ethnic identity. Particular emphasis was placed on reconstructing educational practices and the language policy that is implemented toward minorities in the contexts of bilingual education. An attempt was made at examining the relationship between language policy, schooling, and development of ethnic identity of ethnic and cultural minorities, especially processes of assimilation and revitalization of languages.
